A workshop for parents and professionals
I feel empowered to support my children and understand where they, and I, are coming from in moments of meltdown and fear.

On Wednesday the 5th February, we were delighted to host Suzanne from the charity Trauma Informed Parenting.
The facilitator was great. She used her own lived experience as examples and this was relatable.
T.I.P was born through the determination and persistence of Suzanne Scott, founder and trainer. While she and her husband were providing foster care, they became aware of needs that were not being met in some of the children they were caring for. While searching for a way to help support them, Suzanne was introduced to the “Stress Model” and never looked back. She has continued to build on that experience, by implementing the skills and knowledge gained and seeing the positive results it brought to the children in her care, also recognising and acknowledging her own past trauma. She then transferred this knowledge into information for parents and professionals, helping them to support their own families and children they work with and improving lives across Scotland.
It has given me a different perspective on behaviours which are so often referred to as challenging and/or inappropriate behaviours or result in a child/young person being labelled as the bad/naughty child when in fact they have totally shut down and are often very frightened
MOP staff came together with some of our parents, and a few individuals from other support services, to listen to the presentation from Suzanne, gaining a deeper understanding of the brain function and how to support a child through melt-downs and fear. There was loads of advice as to how to actually implement the learning in a real life basis, as well as knowledge about how the brain works and what trauma is and how it manifests in children. See their website here: Aims and objectives of TIP workshops — T.I.P.
Very informative and the trainer kept putting the strategies/problems to real life issues
The trauma-informed parenting workshop was a fantastic way to understand the power of co-regulating, and how by co-regulating with children can help build better resilience in them. But it's important that as adults we learn to regulate ourselves to meet the needs of our children. The trauma-informed parenting workshop offered invaluable insights into the transformative power of co-regulation. By engaging in co-regulation with our children, we can significantly enhance their resilience and emotional well-being. However, it's essential for us as adults to master our own self-regulation to effectively support and nurture the needs of our children. This journey of personal growth not only benefits us but also paves the way for healthier, more connected relationships with our kids. Muirhead staff are here to support families through this journey and can offer support and advice to make happier family life.
I found this training very informative and beneficial. It will help me to inform parents how they can help themselves and their child(ren) to cope with life’s challenges and hopefully contribute to breaking the cycle of trauma
Validation!! Made me feel less guilty about the parent I’ve been.
